A quick overview of the best GMail gadgets for Vista
Good news for GMail account owners running on Windows Vista. The Microsoft Live Gallery features two nice gadgets that you can use in order to control your GMail account from the desktop.
The first is the GMail Reader gadget, which I reviewed for Windows Tips. GMail Reader prompts you about new GMail messages , and allows you to access them directly from your desktop.
One gadget which is even cooler, is GMail counter. Its functionality is similar to GMail reader (except the fact it doesn’t display the unread message details), however its look is more appealing.Installation is simple and bugless.
The main drawback i see with those two gadgets is that they allow you to control only one GMail account.
I also tried to install the NewMail gadget, that displays new email notifications for POP3 mail accounts, including GMail. At this stage, I recommend not to install this gadget because its buggy installation process(encountered issues with COM objects registration). I will be monitoring this gadget, and let you know whether the author has fixed the bugs so you can safely install.
