From what i keep hearing, one of the Windows features that seem to annoy people is the sound that Windows play when starting up. Moreover, playing sounds affects the operating system performance during startup (as it needs to load media files to play).
So in case you would like to get rid of the startup sound here are the steps to execute in Windows Vista:
- Click Start
- Click Control Panel
- Select Hardware and Sound
- In the Sound section, click Change System sounds
- Uncheck the Play Windows Startup sound box
- Click OK
- Next time you restart you won’t hear the startup sound
