Some time ago i introduced you to a nifty trick that you should use in order to speed up things in case that your computer shutdown is slow.
Today i would like to show you Microsoft UPHClean (User Profile Hive Cleanup Service) Utility, a useful program that can help to speed up your Windows operating system shutdown. The UPHClean utility comes handy in cases that your Windows operating system struggles to terminate opened user sessions (due to remaining connections to the HKEY_CURRENT_USER branch in the Windows Registry) and thus making your system crawl when logging off.
The utility can be downloaded from Microsoft support. The installation is straightforward. Note that the utility is still not supported in Windows Vista operating systems, so in case you are upgrading your Windows XP to Vista you should uninstall it first.

One of my biggest complaints about XP was how slow the shutdown process was compared to how fast it booted. This should make me very happy, thanks.
For me however, I am still looking at ways to speed up the booting process. The shutdown however is of normal speed.
