If you use Vista, you are probably aware of the fact that tweaking it is not always a breeze. Although many features can be configured from the Control Panel or via the toolbar, there is still a bunch of Vista optimization tweaks that can be implemented only through the registry.
Here’s exactly where the new TweakVista utility can help.
Among its features you can find the following:
Security Handling:
• Adjust User Account Control and logon settings easily and safely
Memory Optimization:
• Manage start-up services with preset and customized profiles
• Switch between profiles to reduce memory usage and maximize performance
Start-Up Management:
• Display and control programs loading on start-up
• Identify in plain English what programs do and how to disable them
Performance Assessments:
• Use Windows Vista to benchmark your PC
• Submit your results online and compare them with other people
The utility is currently still in its Beta phase, but after giving it a thorough check i was impressed by its functionality. The feature i like the most is the Windows services profiles, that allows you to automatically bulk enable and disable services according to your computer role (gaming station, media center, server etc’). I strongly recommend to give this feature a try as from experience, it will speed up your Vista operating system performance.
The utility will run for free until the end of October, so if you looking for an easy to use Vista tweaking utility, give TweakVista a shot.

Many bloggers are blogging about Vista since it was launched, some even have dedicated categories for Vista. But I have not got a chance of playing with it cuz i ma PC just has 256MB DDR RAM. I wonder when I will get a chance. You keep up the good work, Gili!
Vista don’t even run good at 1 Gb …and thilak says vista sucks even at 2 Gb so ….do u want to have a chance..:D
Shashank,
I tend to disagree. I run Vista on a 1 GB, performance is completely OK. I believe the key is not use the 3d effects, and implement the performance tricks i mentioned in this blog (Including this last utility).

I think Vista is too heavy and didnt know any one how is using vista. Is vista popular ?
Vista isn’t too popular and that’s perfectly understood.
I think that Microsoft’s conception that users need actually to upgrade their hardware in order to run a new Operating System is totally wrong. No wonder users are punishing them, and opting for other alternatives such as Linux , or just staying with the good old Win XP and simply don’t upgrade.
