I think that Microsoft's conception that users need actually to upgrade their hardware in order to run a new Operating System is totally wrong. No wonder users are punishing them, and opting for other alternatives such as Linux , or just staying with the good old Win XP and simply don't upgrade. I run Vista on a 1 GB, performance is completely OK. I believe the key is not use the 3d effects, and implement the performance tricks i mentioned in this blog (Including this last utility).
