One question I am often asked by people who work on multiple PCs is how to easily delete the Internet search items history from their Google toolbar and the list of navigated web sites from their browser.
I decided to put together this three step procedure that you can use in order to clean up your Internet search history from your PC. The procedure should be used when working on public PCs (Internet cafes, hotels etc’).
Step 1 – Clean up your Google Toolbar search history
- Open your browser.
- Open your Google toolbar search box
- Click Clear Search History.
Step 2 – Clean up your browser search history, offline content and cookies
If you are using Internet Explorer (IE) as your browser, proceed as following:
- Open Internet Explorer.
- Click Tools. Choose Internet options.
- If you are using Internet Explorer 6: Click the following buttons: Clear History, Delete Cookies and Delete Offline Content. Click OK if prompted.
- If you are using Internet Explorer 7: Go to the Browsing History section, then click Delete and then Delete All.
If you are using Mozilla Firefox:
- Click Tools, Click Clear Private Data.
- Check all check boxes.
- Click Clear Private Data Now.
Note: This will take care also of Step 3.
Step 3 – Clean up your forms data
This will purge entered login and passwords as well as web addresses entered in any search boxes.
If you are using Internet Explorer 6:
- Click Tools. Choose Internet options.
- Open the Content tab.
- Click Uncompleted and Clear Forms.
If you are using Internet Explorer 7:
- Click Tools. Choose Internet options.
- Open the Content tab.
- In the Autocomplete section, click Settings.
- Click OK.
