Introducing a simple yet effective tool to verify system reqs before running a game on your PC
Wandering around the different gaming vendors forums i often meet gamers complaining about issues when trying to run different PC games. The root cause of those issues, is simply the fact that those gamers’ PCs don’t meet the minimum system requirements required to run the game. Mostly, the issues are related to non-supported video cards.
It is our responsibility as gamers to perform a system requirements test before we buy a new game or install a demo that we downloaded from the vendor’s website.
Systems Requirement lab has made a free tool that we can use in order to ensure that our PC meets different games’ requirements. The tool looks at your computer’s hardware and system software to determine whether or not your current system can run a game. It specifies whether your system meets the game’s minimum requirement as well as its recommended configuration. The tool is being updated quite frequently, and thus it supports system requirement testing for new games such us the Medal of Honor Airborne demo and BioShock. I believe they will also support the already released FIFA 2008 Demo, as well as the Crysis Demo (to be released on September 25th ) and Halo 3.
The tool usage is straightforward. Simply select the product you would like to test requirements for and click on the Can you Run it? button. The tool will install a non intrusive ActiveX/Java browser component on your PC that will scan your system and determine whether it meets the game requirements. Note that you can easily uninstall the ActiveX/Java browser component from the Add/Remove Program in the Control Panel when the analysis is complete.
