Question:
Brian from Germany asks: I filmed a nice home made video and would like to transfer it to my iPod. My understanding is that the iPod won’t be able to play the video in its current format (.avi). Can you provide some guidance on how to convert video to iPod “friendly” format?
Answer:
Thanks for your question Brian. You are spot on in your statement that the iPod won’t digest the avi video file you have made. The reason is that as far as video is concerned, the iPod can deal only with the MPEG-4 and H.264 video formats. Therefore, you’ll need to convert you home video to one of those formats using some sort of video converting software, and then synchronize your converted video into the iPod using the iTunes interface.
An easy-to-use freeware you can use to convert your video is the Videora iPod Converter. This utility converts all popular video formats (mpg, avi, divx, flv etc’) to the iPod format.
The Videora free ipod Converter weighs 6.88 MB, runs on Windows personal computers and it’s free for personal use. Good Luck!
