How to remove friend notifications from Mafia Wars or Farmville

Block notifications and invites from Mafia Wars on Facebook.

Following our previous post on how to hide status updates from Farmville from the Facebook news feed, Darryl brought up his concern around the fact that he receives tons of Friends notifications from friends playing Mafia Wars suggesting him to join.

There are two methods that you can use in order to hide notifications from Mafia Wars or other Facebook application (this is on top of the simplest method of deleting your invites and notifications manually):

Method 1 – Hiding notifications coming from specific friends

• On Facebook, Hit the Account Link and select Privacy Settings and then Applications and Websites.
• in the Ignore Application Invites section, hit Edit Ignored Friends.
• Now input the names of your friends which you would like to ignore application invites from.

Method 2 – Blocking Mafia Wars or other Facebook applications and games from interacting with your profile.

• In the Facebook search bar, type Mafia Wars.
• Open the Mafia Wars profile and hit Block Application.
• You'll be prompted to confirm blocking Mafia Wars. You'll no longer receive any additional notifications from the applications. Status updates from friends using these applications will still appear in your news feed though.
