How to run multiple Yahoo Messenger concurrent sessions on one PC ?

If you share your computer with a friend or family member and you both use Yahoo Messenger, you might want to be able to open two concurrent Yahoo Messenger sessions on the same PC (each of the sessions will be logged in with a different Yahoo Messenger user name). This is not possible by default, but can be achieved using a quick registry edit i found at WackyB.

Remember! If you use the registry editor incorrectly, you might cause serious problems that might require you to reinstall your operating system. Use the registry editor at your own risk.

Here’s how you implement the tweak (tested in Vista and Windows XP and Yahoo Messenger V8):

  • Backup the registry file. Use instructions provided in section 2 here.
  • Run the registry tweak. If prompted whether this is a secure file, answer Yes.
  • Restart your PC

Now, you’ll be able to run two concurrent sessions of Yahoo Messenger.
